February in Tirana: A Month of Culture and Love
As winter’s embrace softens and the first hints of spring emerge, February transforms Tirana into a captivating destination where culture, romance, and adventure intertwine. This month brings an extraordinary lineup of events and experiences that showcase the city’s vibrant spirit and warm hospitality.
105 years capital of Albania
On February 11, we celebrate the anniversary of Tirana, the Capital. Due to the tense situation at that time, it was decided to temporarily declare Tirana the capital of Albania in 1920. The government that emerged from the Congress of Lushnja in January 1920 arrived in Tirana on February 11, 1920. Read more here.
The city commemorates this historic occasion with the “Tirana, the Colorful City” exhibition, featuring stunning photographs that chronicle the city’s evolution. Poetry readings and cultural activities are also held in various city squares.
A Celebration of Arts and Culture
This February’s cultural calendar is vibrant, featuring world-class performances that shouldn’t be missed. The National Theatre of Opera, Ballet, and Folk Ensemble (TKOBAP) presents an unforgettable “AIDA” production directed by the legendary Franco Zeffirelli. This masterpiece brings ancient Egypt to life through spectacular staging and Verdi’s iconic score, promising an evening of unparalleled artistic excellence. This year’s unique highlight is the Swan Lake Ice Show at the Palace of Congresses on February 12th and 13th. This extraordinary adaptation combines classical ballet’s grace with ice skating’s athleticism, creating a mesmerizing spectacle perfect for a romantic evening.

The festival transforms spaces like Reja and Kino Agimi into cozy havens of musical innovation.
The Puppet Theater continues its beloved performances throughout February for families and the young. It offers enchanting shows that bring stories to life through masterful puppetry and imagination.
Romance in the Air
As the month of love unfolds, Tirana embraces Valentine’s Day with characteristic charm. The city center transforms into a romantic haven adorned with hearts and festive decorations. Local restaurants and cafes craft special menus and intimate settings for couples, while public squares host love-themed events and activities. Nowadays, couples prefer to go to restaurants to enjoy a good lunch or dinner with their sweetheart. Some of our recomandations are Morsi Restaurant, Ballkoni I Dajtit, Amo Sushi, Restaurant Veranda, Habitat Restaurant and Hotel.
Business Meets Innovation
For professionals and entrepreneurs, the Odoo Business Show, which will be held on February 18th at the Maritim Hotel Plaza Tirana, offers an opportunity to explore the latest technological innovations and network with industry leaders.
Tourism and Travel Show Albania is a yearly fair organized at Palace of Congresses with the participance of all tourism stakeholders in Albania and beyond.
Natural Escapes
Despite the winter season, Tirana’s surrounding natural attractions beckon visitors. The snow-covered peaks of Dajti Mountain provide spectacular views of the city and excellent opportunities for winter activities. Meanwhile, Farka Lake offers a peaceful retreat just minutes from the city center, where visitors can enjoy walking trails, birdwatching, and authentic local cuisine at nearby restaurants.
Cultural Destinations
This month, we recommend visiting two fascinating museums: the Postal Museum Gallery, which houses unique artifacts from Albania’s postal history dating back to Ismail Qemali’s first government, and the Museum of Natural Sciences, which showcases Albania’s remarkable biodiversity, which comprises 30% of Europe’s flora and 42% of its fauna.
Don’t forget to participate in the #TiranaWinter2025 Photo Contest, which runs until 28th February. Share your captures of Tirana’s winter beauty and become part of the city’s visual story.
