On November 28, in the framework of the 112th anniversary of Albania’s Independence, Tirana became the center of national unity, welcoming the “Albanian Parade” for the second consecutive year.

This Parade, which gathered over 10,000 people who marched in various groups from all over Albania, was organized by the Union of Albanian Municipalities in the Region and the Municipality of Tirana in cooperation with the “Albanian Roots” Association (Albanian Roots—New York).

This festive event brought together mayors, vice mayors, municipal councilors from Albania, and representatives from Albanian municipalities and cities. The parade opened with an emotional moment, the recitation of Gjergj Fishta’s poem “Free Albania,” skillfully brought to life by the renowned actor Reshat Arbana.

The festive atmosphere was enriched by the participants who presented their cultural heritage through folk songs, traditional instruments and characteristic costumes from all Albanian regions.

The parade continued with the 40 signatories of independence led by Ismail Qemali and Marigonë with the flag, a performance by Albanian actors.

Then, a bus with high school students performed historical music from the Skanderbeg Film. Knights and the figure of Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg were also in the parade. Further exciting was the presentation of unique and diverse costumes of Albanians from all over the Diaspora, organized by Albanian associations in different countries.

After the parades from dozens of cities from Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, everyone gathered at Skanderbeg Square.

In the “Skënderbej” Square, filled with citizens from all Albanian lands, the official ceremony of raising the national flag occurred, marking the 112th anniversary of Albania’s independence.

While the Brass Band interpreted the sounds of the National Anthem. The red and black flag fluttered over the “Skënderbej” Square while the heads of municipalities from all Albanian lands were present, along with the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj. A special moment was also when the sky of Tirana was covered by thousands of red and black balloons, creating a spectacle.

However, activities between them, concerts, or exhibitions on the 112th anniversary of Independence took place yesterday in other cities where a festive atmosphere prevailed.

This activity aims to promote cultural heritage, educate and network the younger generations, and strengthen the sense of national belonging.
