What to do in August in Tirana
August is the last month of summer in Tirana. It is the month when most local citizens leave the city and go to the beach. But as the locals go, foreign tourists abound. You will see empty streets during the day, while the evenings are crowdy, especially in the city square and main bars and resturants in Tirana.
The city is in constant change. Several new skyscrapers are adding to the town. Mind your steps and avoid areas where construction is ongoing. There are plenty of green places, especially outside the city. Tirana lake and villages, such as Petrela, Baldushk, and Bovilla, are stunning to visit during the summer time. You can find during these roads very modern and relaxing swiming pool. We suggest avoiding the city center these days.
Recommendations in August
It’s a hot month, so the best way to avoid the heat in Tirana is to escape to Dajti Mountain or areas near the river and swimming pools.
In Dajt, take the children to Adventure Park, which is cool and the best way to keep them in good sports shape. Tirana has about ten lakes where you can enjoy a coffee in fresh surroundings. However, Durrës is only 30 minutes away, and you can enjoy the beach daily. The ticket costs only 200 lek if you take the bus.
Tours and activities
We suggest authentic tours of Tirana, such as the folk clothing tour, the embroidery tour, the wine and brandy tour, etc. We also recommend daily tours to Bovillë, Tujan, Erzenit Canyon, Pellumbasi Cave, Petrela Castle, etc.
A trip to these areas allows communities to host tourists. Don’t forget to stop for a coffee or a meal in these areas, feel the rural hospitality, and enjoy homemade food. We support sustainable tourism, which provides income to the community and minimally impacts the environment.
Where to eat
Habitat restaurant is an enjoyable environment on Kavaja Street, where seafood predominates. At TEG, we suggest Amo Sushi and Veranda restaurant. Dajti’s balcony is always an excellent opportunity to enjoy food and drinks.
Dont forget to drink a coffee or a nice drink at Mon Cheri Cofee Shops, where you will find the best service
Buy souvenirs
There are plenty of shops in Tirana where you can buy souvenirs as a memory of Tirana. Visit Tirana is offering its branded souvenirs featuring the best attractions of Tirana, made with eco-friendly materials. When you buy a product by visiting Tirana, you also take a souvenir and the history of Tirana, since each product has its QR code with the related story.
