Google Street View

Google has completed a comprehensive update of its Street View imagery across Albania, introducing new high-resolution images of cities, roads, tourist destinations, and natural attractions throughout the country.

The update is part of a broader regional initiative covering Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, during which Google Street View vehicles traveled more than 103,000 kilometers to capture updated imagery, expand coverage, and improve the quality of information available on Google Maps.

Street View enables users to virtually explore locations through immersive 360-degree panoramic imagery, making it easier to navigate unfamiliar areas, plan trips, and discover new destinations. In Albania, the latest update includes major urban centers such as Tirana, Durrës, and Vlorë, as well as some of the country’s most renowned tourist and cultural landmarks. Users can now virtually explore the streets and public squares of the capital, the Adriatic and Ionian coastlines, and the cultural heritage of Berat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Among the natural attractions featured in the update is the Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër), one of Albania’s most iconic natural monuments, which can now be experienced virtually through newly captured, high-definition imagery.

The Street View update is expected to deliver significant benefits to Albania’s tourism sector by helping both domestic and international visitors better plan their journeys and discover new destinations before visiting them in person. Local businesses are also expected to benefit from a more accurate and up-to-date representation on Google Maps, a platform used by millions of people around the world every day.

Albania has experienced strong growth in tourism in recent years, while digital tools are playing an increasingly important role in how travelers choose, plan, and experience their destinations. Through the newly updated Street View imagery, Google aims to provide a more accurate representation of the country’s urban transformation, infrastructure development, and rich natural and cultural heritage.  See also: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
