Pottery… the old tradition

We recommend you a visit to one of the Plaka Pottery situated in the center of Farka village where the artist of will welcome you to his factory.  Pottery is one of the oldest human inventions, originating before the Neolithic period. Pottery is made by forming a ceramic (often clay) body into objects of a required shape and heating them to high temperatures.  People of this village have always had this tradition, and they kept it the way it was hundred years ago, no automation process, and only handmade pottery. Potteries are used to preserve cold water, boil bins and cook delicious food. Tave Dheu is the traditional dish of Tirana. It is made by beef, onions, salted curd cheese or gjize in Albanian and some spices. It is placed in a pottery and baked in oven.  Cooking in pottery makes the food very taste and gives a good smell, but also keep the food hot for longer.

The vineyards

After visiting the pottery, you must visit one of the known vineyards in Farke, “Shehi Winery”. The vineyards are owned by five brothers of Shehi family. The owners will treat you and serve you their wine accompanied with fresh products. One of the great things when you explore by bike is that you can stop and greets the locals and have a nice conversation with them.
