Tirana Heritage Routes- 5 new itineraries

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, under this year’s theme, “Transforming Tourism Through Education,” DMO Albania is bringing together tourism stakeholders, and especially tour guides in Tirana, for an event dedicated to the role of knowledge, storytelling, and skills in creating a more sustainable and meaningful tourism experience.
The event is organized within the framework of Tirana Heritage Routes, a subgrant project of the Boost Balkans Programme, implemented by Alda Balkans and financed by AFD France.
This year’s World Tourism Day theme reminds us that tourism is not transformed only through infrastructure or new destinations. It is transformed through people, education, skills, knowledge-sharing, and the ability to tell our stories in a meaningful way. Tour guides are at the heart of this process. They are the bridge between visitors and the history, culture, traditions, and communities they encounter.
Within this framework, today we are presenting the findings of our project: a study of Tirana’s ancient cultural routes, transformed into storytelling and five thematic itineraries combining history, archaeology, culture, heritage, nature, and rural development.
