Plisi in history – exhibition

Tirana Art Gallery has the pleasure of inviting you to the opening of the solo exhibition “Plisi through history” by Eduart Karaj

A dignified presentation that brings into focus one of the most meaningful and emblematic symbols of Albanian national identity — the Plisi, also known as the Qeleshe.

In this exhibition, the traditional “woolen felt cap” is reinterpreted in a unique artistic form — as a volumetric shape in finely carved wooden sculptures and, at the same time, as a mythological metaphor resting upon the heads of our ancestors, echoing their honorable and distinctive presence.

Expanding across several expressive dimensions — wood carving, acrylic and oil techniques, as well as linoleum prints — the exhibition unfolds as a modern, contemporary folklore. It aims to evoke both emotion and reflection among art enthusiasts, while highlighting the richness of our cultural heritage.

At its core, the exhibition unites painting and sculpture in a single harmonious dialogue.
