What to do in July in Tirana

The month begins with activities to honor Ismail Kadare, the renowned Albanian writer who passed away a year ago.  There will be two activities on July 1 dedicated to Kadare: one exhibition at the National Library, titled “In Memoriam” (1 July, at 11.00 am).  And a second Exhibition: 100 Portraits of Kadare in the Visual Arts at COD, Tirana, on 18.00, (1 July)
On July 1-2, the Ballet Cantata will be performed at the Opera and Ballet Theater in Tirana for all opera lovers. Be sure to obtain your ticket in advance, as it is always fully booked. And for the weekend of 5-6 July, a special opera, Amadeus, will be shown as a premiere. It is a choreographic creation inspired by the life and music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
 
Open Air Cinema invites everyone from 30 June to 6th July at the Reja installation, with several films.
The International Cultural Week begins with Egyptian Week, from July 8 to 12, featuring several activities in Tirana, followed by Brazilian Week from July 15 to 20. After this events, the Cultural Weeks will be back in September. See more here
The Hemingway Jazz Festival, now in its 12th Edition, will be held from July 20 to 21. The first night will feature Latin music performed by the Balkan Paradise Orchestra and Gabriela Mendes, accompanied by her group. The second night, “The Original Blues Brothers” will bring back the old music.

Our Recommendations

You can spend the hot days in Tirana, refreshing yourself in the numerous bars and restaurants around the city. One of the best is Mon Cheri, where you can find some of the best coffees, cappuccinos, drinks, and fast food. Mon Cheri has more than 35 shops in Tirana, with almost one in every neighborhood. The taste of the products is fantastic, which makes this place extremely popular, especially among young people.
Other recommendations are Habitat Hotel and Restaurants, Amo Sushi at TEG while you can always enjoy the Belvedere Restaurant in Dajti Mount.
