Prehistoric Tirana begins with the Pëllumbas Cave, where archaeological evidence indicates that cave bears inhabited the site as far back as 400,000 years ago. The cave is one of only a handful of such sites in Europe. Known locally as the Black Cave (Shpella e Zezë), it has yielded remarkable archaeological discoveries, including human remains and stone tools dating from the Paleolithic period through to Late Antiquity.
During this tour, participants will gain insight into the way prehistoric communities lived in these lands. The experience includes an exploration of the cave’s interior, where impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations can be observed, followed by an opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking natural scenery of the Erzen Valley and the region’s outstanding traditional cuisine.
