When Paula dies, she takes a secret to the grave. Her daughter and her granddaughter will never know who her father was, who her grandfather was. With courage and tenderness, Sandra Hoffmann tells the story of her grandmother Paula, countering the power of silence with the power of language.
Sandra Hoffmann is a freelance writer and teaches creative writing. For her latest novel "What he will miss when he is dead" (2012) she received the Thaddäus Troll Prize. In 2018 she was awarded the Hans Fallada Prize of the city of Neumünster. Her novel "Paula" is translated into Albanian and available since October 2018. In 2018, Sandra Hoffmann traveled Albania by bus. Her notes were published in a blog. The Goethe-Zentrum is very pleased to welcome Sandra Hoffmann to Albania again as part of the Reading Club of German-Language Literature.
