What to do in May in Tirana

Lovely May! The spring is in its fullest. The weather is so warm, and the good thing of this period is that people start to stay late in the nights, filling the bars, restaurants and parks of the city. It is often considered as the first month of the summer, because people dress in shorts, with sandals, and in the weekend they go to Durres nearby and have a sun bathing. Rural Tirana is also highly frequented especially Mount Dajti, but also in villages such as Peza, Bovilla, Farka, Baldushk, Preza, etc (see outside Tirana)

Fantastic time to make plans for vacations. Schools are closing at the end of month. People also like to do sports, such as hiking, biking and other outdoor activities.

We invite you to enjoy the most lively month in Tirana, just before summer time, when Tirana gets a bit empty especially in weekends, when everybody runs to the beach.

You can walk in the blooming parks, sit in the bars to enjoy coffee or food very good restaurants if you are in the city. Otherwise you can go to Mount Dajti  or around Tirana, and come back to entertain in the evening with many cultural events in the Center.

Good news for our followers is that VisitTirana will announce three winners of #TiranaSpring social media competition, and every one can attend. The activity will take place at Reja, on May 16^th, at 18:00. Three prizes are: a lunch for two at Xheko Restaurant; an adventurous tour for two outside Tirana by Klub Discover Albania and third prize: two tickets for the latest movie at Cineplex Cinema in Tirana. 

Other events in May:

May started with a great international event. The first ever Mediterranean Biennale hosted in Tirana, for 5 days, with young artists from other countries.

We are expecting the opening of House of Leaves Museum, which will have a huge interest among foreign visitors. The first news about the decision to opening it sparkled huge interest and drew the attention of the most prestigious world media. Its opening will be e great event.

Don’t forget visiting “Pazari i Ri” The New Bazaar, which will host on 10 May the National Day of Olive oil. A day to buy and taste some good selection of Made in Albania products and flavour our cuisine.

Regarding the cultural events, apart from many theatres and events, we suggest the concert of three legendary singers Elton Deda, Alexander Gjoka and Redon Makashi ( locally known as the three musketeers). They will return for rock music lovers at the Palace of Congresses on May 15th.

The Cloud or Reja, the Sou Fujimoto, installation will be full of activities this month: On the occasion of the 1st Anniversary of Reja from May 20th to 27th, a number of cultural shows will take place in Tirana. The Cloud, this monumental artwork is an attractive point for meetings, cultural events and social activities for the capital city.

On May 28, an original Eco Fashion Show will take place with all materials that most of us want to throw away. Kids from different schools, artists, students and ecological entrepreneurs will present how the recycled repurposed materials are transformed into an Artwork!
