The Natural Monument known as the Cyclops' Eye, these recent years has become a very popular destination outside Tirana. The most frequented period is from spring to summer. But there are adventurers who do not fear the winter and have visited in January. One of these adventurers is Valter Zhara, who has provided us with some fantastic photos from the Cyclops’ Eye and the surrounding area.
To travel from Tirana to the Cyclops’ Eye takes about 40 minutes’ drive by car to the center of Krraba. Then walking continue along the path to the Murdhar Gorge in the northeastern direction of Krraba. The route to the Cycle Eye is about 4 km and lasts no more than 1 hour and 15 minutes, with a break of about 10 minutes.
This trail has some stunning views of the Erzen River, which flows in the form of a small cataract, passes through the forest and many rock formations. A beauty that you get the chance to see in wintertime.
Exploration in winter is very special because you can have this natural gem all by yourself. The frosts during the path aren’t a big deal, and the chances to slip are too small.
During the summer, the Cyclops’ Eye serves as a natural pool, but the real challenge is to dive in the icy water in winter.
By exploring the surrounding area carefully, you will discover the Hidden Waterfall, another miracle of nature.
While at Krrabë in its southern direction there is a high and very beautiful cataract.
