Tirana is the cultural hub of Albania. The capital city has a rich cultural calendar every year. The Mayor of Tirana Mr Veliaj announced the news from FLorence in Italy as he attends the first conference of European Cities of Culture, in Florence, Italy. He said that Tirana applies for European Capital of Culture in 2024 and that is great a great news for the city. He said that the Municipality will start this year the preparation for nomination file.
“Albania applied as a candidate for 2024. We have used this excellent opportunity to lobby for our candidacy. Thanks to the contribution of our friend, Dario Nardella, Mayor of Florence, our twin-city, I think that Albania has great chances”, Veliaj declared.
Tirana has won two big prizes this year, one for Skanderbeg square as the best European Public Space, and one for New Bazaar for the best Renewal Project.
