World Mountain Day was celebrated in a festive festival this Sunday at Dajti Mountain, Tirana. Citizens from all over the country took part in the activities organized by Tirana Municipality in Dajti Mount which was covered for the first time with snow.
You couldn’t miss the smile of the old ladies which they were dressed with traditional costumes. They happily said “It is an honor to be here today and to present our handmade work. We want to pass our cultural heritage to young generations.”
The festival offered entertainment for everyone: children, teenagers and adults, giving them space to have fun and to get in touch with cultural heritage and nature. Dajti Mountain was all white and it was so beautiful to see such an amazing view, while many fires were set in the area were festival was placed. We decided to go with Dajti Ekspres Cable Car to enjoy amazing view.
Kids were so excited to play with snow balls, and to enjoy the food near the fire. It was an fantastic panorama seeing all these diverse activities for all the ages. For passionate people about air sports the Mayor of Tirana, inaugurated the paragliding and air balloon platform.
No one care about the cold weather. All participants started to dance with traditional songs. Others stayed close to the fires tasting Albanian wine and all different types “Rakia” produced by the locals of Dajti and area around.
Dajti N'Fest was organized in the framework of the Mountain Day by the Agency of Parks and Recreation of Municipality of Tirana, in cooperation with EDS Foundation, AKZM and UNDP.
