Today is the first day of School in Albania. More than 495 000 pupils and students are attending the primary and pre-university education in whole the country.
The new school year starts always in the second week of September and it lasts until mid of June next year. It is a very joyful day. All the pupils have flowers in their hands. They are well dressed and are very happy to meet their friends and teachers after vacations.
The most emotional ones are the pupils who starts the first class. They are shy, still holding the hands of parents, hesitant to find new friends and very happy to see their first teachers.
This day can be called the day of Flowers. Everywhere, In every corner you see children with flowers.
It is somehow a tradition to celebrate the first day of school in all the country. In many schools in Tirana, there are concerts organized in the opening of the New School Year.
But emotional are teachers too. They feel excited and anxious somehow to meet the new students, to unwrapping each child's personality and figuring out how to help them learn and grow.
It depend on them how to shape and how to teach the new generation. Looking back in years many things have changed in education system and school, but one thing seem to remain the same: the respect for the teacher.
According to statistics there are more than 3354 pre- university schools in Albania, (primary and high school). Most of them are public, and only 580 of them are private.
Only in Tirana there are 23 high schools and 64 primary schools.
We wish all of them a successful School Year 2017-2018.
