Tirana Photo Festival 2018

The most important photography event in Tirana. What happened in 9 days!

November kicked off with the Tirana Photo Festival 2018, which ran from November 1-9, 2018 at the National History Museum. The opening night was outstanding with the presence of over 300 guests. Three great awards were given and an exhibition of 100 of the most beautiful photos of Tirana were shown. The ‘Tirana 2018’ album featuring these 100 photos from all over Tirana was presented on the opening night. During festival photography workshops were held. What happened in October in Tirana!
Farmers fair at Mother Teresa Square in Tirana
800 farmers from all over Albania brought their products/works in Tirana.
Visit Tirana was at the opening of the fair to look closely at the reaction of the visitors but also the farmers themselves, who came from different areas of Albania especially for this event. The whole square "Mother Teresa" was turned into a small village with agricultural products, crafts and small "farms" were created with animals and poultry. National Day of Austria
celebrated in Tirana
National Day of Austria was celebrated in Tirana in a very friendly atmosphere. Many people from government, embassies, media and businessman attended this event. This event culminated more than 70 events held all over Albania on behalf of Cultural Year Austria-Albania 2018, such as concerts, theatre, dance performances, film screenings, exhibitions and journalistic projects. Albania celebrates 60 years in UNESCO
Albania is celebrating 60 years in UNESCO, since it was registered as part of that organisation in 1958. Albania is already in the world map for its cultural heritages. Part of UNESCO world Heritage list is also iso-poliphony, as intangible heritage, a masterpiece of our folk music. This year is also the 60th anniversary of Festival of Gjirokastra, one of the most important events to show this unique kind of music to the world. More:
The Guardian: Tirana's plan for a 'kaleidoscope metropolis"
Tirana doesn’t follow the pattern of most European cities. The Guardian dedicated an article to all changes happened in Tirana the latest years, and the plans for the city in 2030. "Tirana is a great, vibrant city which nevertheless has struggled with the transition from being the center of an isolated regime to the cosmopolitan cultural capital of the Balkans" says the mayor Erion Veliaj, quoted by the Guardian.
